On November 23, 2015, the Romanian Association for the Promotion of Health (ARPS), and the Romanian Academic Society (SAR) held a launching event of the research report “Between discrimination, abuse and exploitation: the protection of immigrants’ civil rights in Romania” and the policy brief containing proposals regarding the protection of immigrants’ civil rights in Romania. The event took place at Infoeuropa Center in Bucharest and was attended by representatives of public authorities, NGOs and researchers interested in the protection of immigrants’ civil rights in Romania.
The event was an opportunity to discuss and debate the main conclusions of the research report and the recommendations included in the policy brief, which are aimed at improving anti-discrimination measures and practices addressing the problems identified. The policy recommendations are addressed to public authorities, universities, hospitals, banks and immigrants. The presentations triggered a constructive dialogue about promoting tolerance and raising awareness about the public and private responsibilities for a better integration of immigrants in the Romanian society.
The research report and policy brief were drafted as part of the project on The Discrimination of Immigrants in the Area of Civil Rights – DIM, financed by SEE Grants 2009-2014 through the NGO Fund in Romania.
