The three counties in the so-called Szeckler Country, Harghita, Covasna and Mures, could face a clear economic disadvantage, were they obtain territorial autonomy, given the fact that they are among the poorest areas in the country, and they are also dependent on income from the state budget. This is the conclusion of a study presented yesterday by the manager of the Romanian Academic Society (SAR), Sorin Ionita, during a seminar organized together with the UDMR liberal platform on “The Autonomy of Szeckler Country from a Public Policy Perspective.”
